Understand matching scores and why a deal appears

Use fit information as a starting point for reviewing a deal, not as a substitute for diligence.

Use fit information as a starting point for reviewing a deal, not as a substitute for diligence.

Before you start

Open a matched opportunity in a buyside project.

Steps

  1. Review the Fit information and the deal's industry and financial details.

  2. Compare the opportunity with your saved mandate, including geography and the applicable Revenue, EBITDA, or check-size ranges.

  3. Check the underlying period and any missing information before deciding that a number is comparable.

  4. If the results consistently miss your needs, choose Edit Project and adjust the criteria.

What happens next

You can make an informed decision about whether to request access. Matching uses industry relationships and financial ranges with tolerances, so results need not be exact boundary matches.

Common problems

A high fit score is not a valuation, verification of financials, or assurance that a transaction will close. Ask the seller about unclear data rather than treating the score as proof.
